Art de vivre and Culinary delights

One of the popular courses is the Art de Vivre and culinary delights in Fontevraud This unique course includes 2 cookery workshops with either the chef of the famous restaurant La Licorne, (just opposite your teacher’s home, the chef doesn’t speak English) or Mike from Les Peupliers in Varennes sur Loire ( workshop in English Your teacher will accompany you anyway!

What’s included :

  • You will be speaking French a minimum of 60 hours a week with class-linked activities,
  • includes 2 3 hour- cookery workshops followed by a meal
  • visiting local producers and markets with Sylvie, meeting Sylvie’s French friends and students
  •  6 restaurant meals with your trainer (supplement for 12),

Surprise yourself with an unexpected approach to the art of wine-tasting with Cécile Chevre  who will introduce you to the art  of cultivating and tasting wine in Anjou at the Domaine des Roches Neuves. You will taste and learn to describe the aromas and flavours of some of the greatest local vintages. The Anjou vineyards are 20,000 acres of fertile land, home to over 28 appellations such as Savennières, Saumur Brut, Samur Champigny, Cotaux de Layon.

It has been designed for wine lovers and gourmets seeking to combine a French learning experience with the pleasures of preparing some of the most outstanding food of the region tasting luxurious wines and generally making the most of the local art de vivre in and around Fontevraud.

If you are confident in French, your gourmet address : At La Licorne restaurant, luxury is at the service of simple joys.
Master Chef Fabrice Bretel has established his exclusive cuisine in a XVIIIth tuffeau residence in Fontevraud. He will offer you the truly special experience to learn about the endless variety of the Loire regional specialities.

If you are less confident and you wish to do your cookery workshop in English whilst learning some French key gastronomic vocabulary and expressions guided by your teacher Sylvie, you will be with Master Chef Michael Wilke, who was trained in Germany and then spent the next 30 years working in top establishments around the world. His UK restaurant gained entry into the Michelin Guide and before opening Les Peupliers, in 2006 he was Executive Head Chef at the Stone Manor Hotel in Worcestershire UK . Michael’s experienced relaxed style will let you learn in a fun yet informative manner.
